My Confident, Likely Wrong 2019 Oscar Predictions

Sunday night will be an Oscar ceremony unlike any that we have ever seen before. No host, non-actors as presenters, and negative feelings about the Academy’s attempts to shake up the ceremony will make for an interesting telecast. With that in mind, I have little doubt that my 2019 Oscar predictions could be wildly off.

Even though the film has already been tweaked for Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, the latest iteration proves how talent elevates a story. Warner Brothers released the trailer for the Bradley Cooper-Lady Gaga movie A Star Is Born yesterday. The film will be the third remake of a 1937’s A Star Is Born and is Cooper’s directorial debut. If the trailer is any indication, this will be an immensely popular movie that generates considerable Oscar buzz.
