About The Flat Circle

Thank you for visiting the Flat Circle. I started this blog in April of 2017 because I wanted to write about my favorite entertainment. So far, this has included blockbusters, entertainment guides, and emerging indie bands. I live outside of Philadelphia and blog on local events in addition to my pop-culture content.

I hope you enjoy reading the Flat Circle. I post regularly on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also follow my blog by subscribing to the e-mail option located at the bottom of the page. Feel free to reach out via e-mail (flatcircleblog@gmail.com) or comment in any posts.

Blog Stuff:

The blog’s circuitous name was inspired by the first season of True Detective.

This is my second blog. I blogged about music on my old site, Long After Dark, from 2011 to 2013.

I am always on the lookout for blog topics of local interest like Philadelphia bands, the West Philly Porchfest, and Philly entertainment guides.

I also write about pop-culture from outside the Philadelphia area. Since I resumed blogging, I have watched more movies in theaters than I have since I was in middle school, resulting in things like my 2018 Oscar hunt. You can expect another movie binge ahead of the 2019 Oscars.

Personal Stuff:

I live in Narberth with my wife Janet.

I am 32 years old. I have lived in the Philadelphia area since 1991.

My sister and I have the same birthday, six years apart.

Before spending time with two different private investigation companies, I worked for a record store (Main Street Music in Manayunk) and book store (RIP, Borders Books and Music). I am currently a freelance writer.

I graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in 2008. I still hang around and do video work for the school during basketball season.

Favorite Current TV Shows: Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, The Good Place, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Favorite Movies: The Dark Knight, The Natural, The Prestige, and Creed

Favorite Bands/Artists: The War on Drugs, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Foo Fighters, Raphael Saadiq, The xx
